CAP Meetings
The Panel will meet three times this year.Ìý The meeting dates for 2024-2025 are as follows:
- October 24, 2024 (11:00 AM – 4:30 PM)* and October 2025, 2024 (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
- February 27, 2025 (11:00 AM – 4:30 PM)* and February 28, 2025 (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
- May 29, 2025 (11:00 AM – 4:30 PM)* and May 30, 2025 (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
CAP meetings are held in the State Education Building, 89 Washington Avenue, Albany NY, 12234.ÌýIt is necessary to have a É«ÖÐÉ« (É«ÖÐÉ«) photo identification badge to gain entrance to the building. Visitors are required to obtain a visitor's badge from the building guard in the lobby.
*There is a 30-minute public comment session from 4:00 – 4:30 PM on first day of each CAP meeting. Individual comment is limited to five minutes.Ìý
Public Participation
Meetings are open and accessible to the public.Ìý Thirty minutes of the first day of the Panel session is devoted to public comment. To register to attend a CAP meeting and/or provide public comment, please complete theÌý prior to the meeting. If you plan to attend and have not completed the registration form, you must sign in with the guard in the lobby of the State Education Building to obtain a visitor's badge.
Guidelines for Public Participation
Comment should focus on special education policy issues and, if possible, include recommendations to address those issues. Information provided should be factual, objective and not include the names of any districts/agencies, district or agency personnel and/or children or families. Comment related to child or district specific issues and/or those related to complaints or impartial hearing will not be accepted.
Comment may be provided in person or in writing to the Office of Special Education or to any member of the Commissioner’s Advisory Panel. We request that written comment be submitted two weeks prior to the meeting. It will be shared with members and read at the meeting.Ìý Anonymous comment will not be accepted. Comment is limited to five minutes. Language must be respectful and appropriate. The chairperson reserves the right to terminate the speaker if these guidelines are violated.
