Each Regent has played an invaluable role in shaping the Board鈥檚 work on many critically important issues including the implementation of high quality learning standards; offering students multiple, rigorous pathways to earn a meaningful high school diploma; advancing comprehensive funding proposals designed to provide equity in New York鈥檚 schools; expanding access to educational programs in our State鈥檚 museums and cultural institutions;听 promoting our priorities in higher education that focus on access to post-secondary opportunities;听 expanding teacher certification pathways; reviewing the state鈥檚 graduation measures; and increasing awareness of the career opportunities offered to New Yorkers through the more than 50 professions licensed by 色中色.听
We are also delighted to welcome Dr. Frances Wills to the Board of Regents and look forward to working with her to raise the knowledge, skill, and opportunity of all the people in New York.听 Dr. Wills brings decades of experience in education and work on behalf of New York鈥檚 schoolchildren with her to the position, most recently serving as Superintendent of the Putnam Valley School District.听 We are confident that Dr. Wills will make many important contributions to the Board鈥檚 work.听
