Subject:
2020-21SY Child Count Change in Data Pull Date
Date:
November 3, 2020

In the P12 Reopening Guidance, released on July 16, 2020, the Office of Early Learning had changed the child count pull date from Basic Education Data System (BEDS) day to December 1, 2020 to allow districts and programs flexibility for students to enroll during the COVID-19 pandemic. Note that this change in the child count pull extract date is only applicable to the 2020-21 SY.

To allow for districts beginning prekindergarten grant programs after December 1, 2020, the É«ÖÐɫ’s Office of Early Learning has made arrangements with the Office of Information and Reporting Services (IRS) to obtain three data extracts to allow for districts who begin prekindergarten grant programs after December 1, 2020. During the 2020- 21SY the child count pull extract will be moved from December 1, 2020 to Friday, January 15, April 16 and June 4, 2021. IRS is also working to provide a means for districts running prekindergarten grant programs to verify their enrollment data in the Level 2 Reporting Environment (L2RPT). Further guidance on the SIRS L2RPT update will be forthcoming. The three extract dates for prekindergarten enrollment would replace the BEDS day count for the 2020- 21SY and will capture districts who may start programs at later dates. The enrollment data in the Student Information and Repository System (SIRS) will be the child count numbers used to calculate your maximum grant payable for the 2020-2021 school year. As in years past, with the enhanced L2RPT components in progress, you will have the opportunity to verify the accuracy of the data and will be able to make any necessary changes.

Questions regarding child count data extracts, data in SIRS, or L2RPT verification reports should be directed to the Office of Information and Reporting Services at Data Support.

General questions regarding any of the prekindergarten grant programs can be directed to the Office of Early Learning at oel@nysed.gov
